2020 BVCA National Championship Tournament

**UPDATE JUNE 8, 2020**

Hello Directors, Coaches, Players, Parents and Sponsors,
Due to the local health department and government regulations of COVID-19, we  are unable to secure a permit in Hermosa Beach and need to cancel our 8th annual BVCA National Championship. Our event has been successful because of your support, and we wish for every beach club to have a successful re-opening. We will be back better and stronger next year, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to us for any reason.

2020 Competition Dates: July 12,13,14,15,16  

Location: Hermosa Beach Pier, North & Southside 

1 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 

Entry Fee: $275 per team

Age Groups 

18’s- Players Graduation year of 2020 & 2021

16’s- Players Graduation year of 2022 & 2023

14’s- Players Graduation year of 2024 & 2025

12’s -Players Graduation year of 2026 & 2027 & 2028

Qualification 

Teams are selected by their club director. Each beach club will select their top team and the beach club director will register their athlete. Parents do not register. If a player graduated High School in the fall and went to college in the spring, she can NOT participate in the BVCA National Championships as a junior player. Guidelines will be posted on the website.

Sunday July 12th 

Pool Play for 16’s and 18’s to determine seeding into Gold/Silver/Bronze Flight

16’s Check-in 7:15-8:00     1st wave of competition

18’s Check-in 11:45-12:30 2nd wave of competition

Pool Play for 16’s and 18’s to determine seeding into Gold/Silver/Bronze Flight.

There will be 2 waves of competition. Please note the check in times are located at north side of the pier.

Monday July 13th 

16’s and 18’s Check-in 8:00 North of the Pier-players meeting before match play starts

16’s and 18’s Championship seeded Bracket (match play tournament for Gold/Silver/Bronze flight

Depending on how the tournament plays out on time, we will try to play down to the semi-final rounds in each flight. ***Not all the u16’s &18’s teams make it to Tuesday. Only the final rounds in the bracket will be played on Tuesday.

Tuesday July 14th 

12’s & 14’s Check-in: 8:00-8:30 Northside of the Pier

12’s & 14’s: pool play to determine seeding into Gold/Silver/Bronze Flight

Championship Day and Medal Ceremony for 16’s &18’s (Check in TBD)

Wednesday July 15th 

12’s & 14’s Check-in 8:00 North of the Pier-players meeting before match play starts

12’s & 14’s Championship seeded Bracket (match play tournament for Gold/Silver/Bronze flight

Depending on how the tournament plays out on time, we will try to play down to the final rounds in each flight. ***Not all the u12’s and 14’s teams make it to Thursday and only the final rounds in the bracket will be played on Thursday.

Club vs Club Challenge Championship (Top 16 Clubs based on points qualify)

9:00 Check by club director northside of the pier

Each (squad) Club will play pool play to determine seeding for Championship Bracket on Thursday

College Teams Check-in: 9:30 for pool play to determine seeding into Championship Bracket on Thursday

Thursday July 16th 

Medal Ceremony and awards will be given out to individual teams, the overall Best Beach Club Championship, and the Club vs Club Championship Series

  • Championship Day and Medal Ceremony for 12’s &14’s (Check- in TBD)
  • Club vs Club Challenge Championship (Check- in TBD)
  • Collegiate Championship (Check- in TBD)

Junior Volleyball Association (JVA) The JVA is a national association that focuses on giving volleyball clubs the resources and education to be successful, and like the BVCA, is entirely about giving the athletes the best experience possible. NOTICE: The BVCA reserves the right to refuse registration or participation to any beach club or individual at any BVCA sanctioned event.

We hold our events and participants to the highest standards of integrity and have set guidelines  to be followed by participants and clubs. 

If a BVCA event has already started and a beach club participant and/or beach club has not followed or untruthfully agreed to any of the guidelines, we hold the right to disqualify the team and/or payer and not award any points to their club. Disqualified participants will not receive a refund.

Additionally, the BVCA reserves the right to suspend participants and/or beach clubs from participating in any future BVCA events.
