Tournament Information

Competition Dates: July 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 2024

Location: Hermosa Beach Pier, North & Southside

1 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

Entry Fee:  $295 per team

Age Groups

18’s- Players Graduation year of 2024 & 2025
16’s- Players Graduation year of 2026 & 2027
14’s- Players Graduation year of 2028 & 2029
12’s -Players Graduation year of 2030 & 2031 and younger

Qualification 

Individual Pairs Event

Teams are selected by their club director. Each beach club will select their top team. If a player graduated High School in the fall and went to college in the spring, she can NOT participate in the BVCA National Championships as a junior player. If you are doing a gap year, please email the BVCA.

Club vs Club Challenge Event

Teams qualified based on ranking points. See Guidelines

Open Division 5v5 Club v Club-24 Clubs

OPEN Division (5 vs 5): The highest ranking 16 clubs based on RANKING points (excluding points of clubs with multiple teams). The Advisory Committee will award 8 ‘At Large’ bids based on points, finishes, number of events, and will also consider clubs with a 2nd or 3rd team for qualification. A total of 24 squads will qualify.
After day 1 at the National Championship, the 3rd and 4th place squads from each pool will play in a Tier 2 Open Championship.

CLUB Division (3 vs 3): The highest ranking 16 clubs based on RANKING points (excluding points of clubs with multiple teams). The Advisory Committee will award 8 ‘At Large’ bids based on points, finishes, number of events, and will also consider clubs with a 2nd or 3rd team for qualification. A total of 24 squads will qualify.
After day 1 at the National Championship, the 3rd and 4th place squads from each pool will play in a Tier 2 Club Championship.


FUTURES Division (3 vs 3): The highest ranking 8 clubs based on RANKING points (excluding points of clubs with multiple teams).

NOTE: RANKING POINTS will be taken from a Club’s Top 4 Finishes in the BVCA Challenge Series (Open,Club & Future divisions ) to determine their points to go to the National Championships. The BVCA reserves the right to refuse registration or participation to any beach club or individual at any BVCA-sanctioned event.

Day 1- Sunday, July 7 // 16’s and 18’s age groups

Wave 1: 16’s 7:30 Check in for 16’s (FIVB) Pools of 4/Match Play

168 teams’ max entry in each age group-42 pools

  • 8:30 -1 vs 4
  • 9:30 – 2 v 3
  • 10:30– Loser of Game 1 vs Loser of Game 2
  • 11:30– Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 2

Wave 2: 12:00 18’s Check in (FIVB) Pools of 4/Match Play

 168 teams’ max entry in each age group-42 pools

  • 1:00 –1 vs 4
  • 2:00– 2 v 3
  • 3:00– Loser of Game 1 vs Loser of Game 2
  • 4:00– Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 2

CLUB V CLUB National Championship for 3v3 FUTURE Division

Day 2- Monday, July 8

  • The winner of each pool will go into a pool of 3 to decide seeding into the Gold Bracket. 
  • The last place team of each pool will go into a pool of 3 to decide seeding into the bronze bracket.
  • The 2nd, and 3rd place teams will go into a pool of 3. The winner of the pool will advance into the 70 team Gold, the 2nd and 3rd place goes to 56 team Silver, 42-team bronze bracket.
  • Games will be played to 21 in seeding-round.

  • 9:00am for CHAMPIONSHiP BRACKET for Future National Championship

Day 3- Tuesday, July 9 // 12’s & 14’s age groups

8:30-5:00 16’s and 18’s Finish Championship Bracket

 16’s & 18’s Medal ceremony to follow the competition

60 teams’ max entry-15 pools

  • 8:30-1 vs 4
  • 9:30- 2 v 3
  • 10:30- Loser of Game 1 vs Loser of Game 2

14’s Age Group

144-teams max entry-36 pools

  • 1:00- 1 vs 4
  • 2:00- 2 v 3
  • 3:00- Loser of Game 1 vs Loser of Game 2
  • 4:00- Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 2

Day 4- Wednesday, July 10 // Club v Club

  • The winner of each pool will go into a pool of 3 to decide seeding into the Gold Bracket. 
  • The last place team of each pool will go into a pool of 3 to decide seeding into the bronze bracket.
  • In 12’s, the 2nd and 3rd place teams will go into a pool of 3. The winner of the pool will advance into the 30-team Gold, 2nd 3rd place teams into 15-team Silver, 15-team bronze bracket.
  • In 14’s, the 2nd, and 3rd place teams will go into a pool of 3. The winner of the pool will advance into the 60-team Gold, 2nd and 3rd place teams into 48-team Silver, 36-team bronze bracket.
  • Games will be played to 21 in seeding-round.

7:45 12’s and 14’s Check-in

8:15-11:15 Pool of 3 for seeding into Brackets, there will be 2 pools on one court.

11:30-6:00 Championship Bracket Gold/Silver/Bronze for 12’s & 14’s

  • MATCH PLAY, you lose you’re out of the tournament
  • Goal is to finish the 2-3 rounds of Bracket

Club v Club National Championships July 10th &11th

7:20 Check in Directors and Coaches meeting

  • Top 2 that finish in Pool-play stay in OPEN Gold Bracket
  • 3rd & 4th in Pool go to Tier 2 Open 5 v5 Championship Bracket

  • Top 2 that finish in Pool-play stay in CLUB Gold Bracket
  • 3rd & 4th in Pool go to Tier 2 CLUB 3 v 3 Championship Bracket

Awards will be given out to the overall Best Beach Club Championship, and the Club vs Club Championship Series

We hold our events and participants to the highest standards of integrity and have set guidelines  to be followed by participants and clubs. 

If a BVCA event has already started and a beach club participant and/or beach club has not followed or untruthfully agreed to any of the guidelines, we hold the right to disqualify the team and/or payer and not award any points to their club. Disqualified participants will not receive a refund.

Additionally, the BVCA reserves the right to suspend participants and/or beach clubs from participating in any future BVCA events.
